Becca Evans' Home Truths

Everyone, this is Becca. Why ask her for her Home Truths? Cos she’s a total dream, lives in Australia (I miss her), and is coming back soon (yay).

1. The song to put a smile on your face…

Sunrise - Norah Jones.

2. You can only watch one film for the next three months… What is it?

The Greatest Showman - just to keep me in a good mood!

3. The TV series you want everyone to watch:

Sex Education. There's a gap in my life now I've finished it, and I cannot wait for the next series. WARNING: do not watch with parents no matter your age.

4. The book you most recommend to people:

Lost Connections by Johann Hari. At a time like this, connections are what will keep us going. This great self-help book helps distinguish what’s important to keep your mental health in check.

5. The subject you’ve put off exploring that’s now top of your to-do list:

6 months back I began studying to become a marriage celebrant - the course got pushed aside when I started my new job - I need to bring it back and have a goal to do two weddings by the end of the year.

6. The wild card you wish more people knew about…

Facebook's COVID-19 help page. It contains really specific information on the rules and regulations in your country, allows you to ask questions on the current status, accept and offer help too.

7. We’re allowed dinner parties again… What are you cooking?

I cooked my first ever roast dinner for what was a very limited audience over Easter. I think I'm ready to invite people along next time. My other wild card would be my friend Harro's amazing roast potato recipe - never make another roast without it.

8. Everything’s back open. What’s the first coffee shop, restaurant or pub you’re visiting?

El Indio in Bondi. A phenomenal little South American BYOB.

P.S. What you know now, that you wish you knew then…

It'll be a rollercoaster, somedays will be a breeze, others it'll feel like the end of the world - you'll learn to enjoy the new pace of life, the lack of FOMO and self-inflicted social pressure will feel great! You'll feel more connected than ever to friends and family on the other side of the world. You’re all in this together.

C’est fini... Now what?
