Emma Chandler’s Home Truths

Emma Chandler Home Truths.jpg

Everyone, this is Emma. Why ask her for her Home Truths? Cos she’s been the best travel buddy on some of my favourite trips, can rock a bandana (see left), and has completed Netflix. Twice.

1. The song to put a smile on your face…

Thinking of You - Sister Sledge. It reminds me of summers with my oldest friends.

2. You can only watch one film for the next three months… What is it?

The Lord of the Rings box set. The extended versions make the films around 11 hours long. Reckon that would keep me distracted for a long time.

3. The TV series you want everyone to watch:

This Is Us. It’s emotionally very touching and explores all family ups and downs. I cry every episode.

4. The book you most recommend to people:

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It’s quite harrowing in parts but I haven’t met a person yet who hasn’t been amazed by it.

5. The subject you’ve put off exploring that’s now top of your to-do list

Learn French / Spanish / American politics. I need to learn a language before I finally leave this earth!

6. The wild card you wish more people knew about…

MasterClass. These are written and told by masters of all trades from well-known directors to physicists. Unbelievably interesting and you learn so much from them. I want to do the one on photography.

In her first-ever online class, award-winning photographer Annie Leibovitz teaches her process for working with light, creating concepts, and finding your po...

7. We’re allowed dinner parties again… What are you cooking?

Sushi and sashimi starter, followed by sticky sesame chicken with egg fried rice and pak choi. To finish? A cracking treacle tart.

8. Everything’s back open. What’s the first coffee shop, restaurant or pub you’re visiting?

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. I was meant to take my brother there in April… 🤦🏻‍♀️

P.S. What you know now, that you wish you knew then…

Not take for granted any friends and family. They’re the ones who keep you going when times get tough.

C’est fini... Now what?
