Samantha Hornsby's Home Truths
1. The song to put a smile on your face…
You Get What You Give - New Radicals. It's absolutely impossible not to feel happy after listening to this song. Embarrassingly I listen to it every morning to get me in the mood to be productive!
2. You can only watch one film for the next three months… What is it?
Lord Of The Rings. I'm awful at watching films - I don't have the attention span! This is probably the only one that can keep my interest. I don't mind a fantasy film.
3. The TV series you want everyone to watch:
Sex Education. I could watch it over and over again and still be in awe at the unbelievable writing and acting. It is just so funny.
4. The book you most recommend to people:
Ah, I'm really not a reader at all. But I'm an obsessive listener - a podcast fanatic. So I'll say a podcast instead… Reasons To Be Cheerful by Ed Miliband and Geoff Lloyd is amazing and every episode I learn so much from it.
5. The subject you’ve put off exploring that’s now top of your to-do list
I used to be ok at French but I've completely lost it over the years. I can barely remember 'hello'. I'd love to be able to speak another language fluently and now I have the time so no excuse really!
6. The wild card you wish more people knew about…
The most under rated podcast in my opinion is Love + Radio. It's a mad collection of life stories from unique people across the world. My favourite episode of all time is called ‘Snakes!!!!!’ and it's about this guy called Tim who is obsessed with becoming immune to snake bites so gets one to bite him every single day and now he's nearly immune but has died a number of times because of it. I mean, how could you not want to listen to that story.
7. We’re allowed dinner parties again… What are you cooking?
Vegan haggis with neeps, tatties, fresh greens and oat cream and whisky sauce. What a feast.
8. Everything’s back open. What’s the first coffee shop, restaurant or pub you’re visiting?
640 East which is my local coffee shop and restaurant in Brighton. The food is unreal and everyone is so friendly - the perfect way to get that human interaction fix after such a long time in isolation.
P.S. What you know now, that you wish you knew then…
That I'm actually way more productive working at home and creating my own routine. I've managed to get so much more done remotely.
C’est fini... Now what?
