Susie Chandler's Home Truths

Susie Chandler Home Truths.jpeg

Everyone, this is Susie. Why ask her for her Home Truths? Cos she’s my best friend, a party-starter, and someone with impeccable taste (see below)…

1. The song to put a smile on your face…

Il Mondo - Jimmy Fontana. It reminds me of driving along the Amalfi coast to Positano with the love of my life without a care in the world.

2. You can only watch one film for the next three months… What is it?

Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet. I've always been fascinated by the play. Each time I watch it I appreciate another snippet of Shakespeare's language and the moment Juliet wakes up when Romeo takes the poison always gets me… It's the ultimate face palm moment.

3. The TV series you want everyone to watch:

Grey’s Anatomy. An emotional rollercoaster which is super addictive with characters you get completely invested in.

4. The book you most recommend to people:

So You've Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson. It’s changed the way I look at our generation and social media, plus I love listening to Jon Ronson's hybrid accent.

5. The subject you’ve put off exploring that’s now top of your to-do list

Learning Italian and playing the piano.

6. The wild card you wish more people knew about…

@goodnews_movement on Instagram always gives me some happy stories to brighten up my day.

55.4k Likes, 594 Comments - Good News Movement (@goodnews_movement) on Instagram: "Once again... Italians and their inventiveness! ♦️ ♥️ 🍷 #andràtuttobene"

7. We’re allowed dinner parties again… What are you cooking?

Aiming high - a whole salt baked cod. I’d always choose it if it was on a menu so I should learn to make it!

8. Everything’s back open. What’s the first coffee shop, restaurant or pub you’re visiting?

Something you can’t simulate in lockdown is date night in a vibe-y bar. My favourite bar for that is Double Standard at The Standard hotel’s. Great music, decor and menu.

P.S. What you know now, that you wish you knew then…

You can be living life in the fast lane 24/7 without even realising it until you stop, and realise how important it is to have some calm and take care of your mind and body… And when you do that you feel great!

C’est fini... Now what?
