Chris Simon's Home Truths

Everyone, this is Chris. Why ask him for his Home Truths? Cos he runs a production company called New Sparta Productions, gave me some of my best work memories when on his film Miss You Already, and is one of the first people I’ll hug after all this is over.

1. The song to put a smile on your face…

Don’t Worry Be Happy - Bobby McFerrin. My mum used to always sing it and it makes me smile!

2. You can only watch one film for the next three months… What is it?

The Princess Bride. I could watch that film over and over and never get board. I love to play all the characters as I watch.

3. The TV series you want everyone to watch:

Call My Agent! It feels very authentic in its extremities. It also has a lot of heart. It’s our world but in French.

4. The book you most recommend to people:

The Presence Process by Michael Brown. I just read it and, now in lockdown, it is the perfect book to read and experience. It’s all about being present.

5. The subject you’ve put off exploring that’s now top of your to-do list:

Personal journaling from childhood to now to get some perspective on my life.

6. The wild card you wish more people knew about…

Breath work on Instagram. There are a few teachers like The Breath Guy, Breath Guru, and Breath Pod. Especially now, breathing is so important for physical, mental and emotional health.

7. We’re allowed dinner parties again… What are you cooking?

An organic vegan dish made from the fruit and vegetables grown in my back garden.

8. Everything’s back open. What’s the first coffee shop, restaurant or pub you’re visiting?

Kolamba. It’s a Sri Lankan restaurant I discovered before the lockdown. I had a lunch booking on the day we all started working from home and am still craving it!

P.S. What you know now, that you wish you knew then…

For a long time now, I think I knew how lucky I was. I really can’t think of anything new to know. Even before this I have counted my blessings daily. To be able to cycle through London, through parks to work, to eat foods from all over the world, to hug, kiss and even shake people’s hands and enjoy a crowded market or concert or march through the streets. Or be in a gym or hot yoga class. To be able to travel widely and co-create and, most of all, to love everyone.

C’est fini... Now what?
